I will be happy when...

I will be happy, when?

I thought happiness was a journey, not a destination.

But I think I will be REALLY happy when I win the lottery. That is long overdue.

Christy, I agree with you.

It was Friday, and I was thinking of how much I was looking forward to the weekend, and then I thought, "why? what have I been doing with my whole week?"

It's not always effortless to be happy, or even content, in the moment. Placing happiness completely in the future, instead of the present, is a losing strategy. I was trying to remind myself of that and point it out to others in my typical enigmatic fashion.

So, the point is: if you are waiting to be happy 'when', then when will you ever be happy?

Isn't it just as bad to realize that you were happy in the past but so busy waiting to be happy that you didn't know it?

I love that quote in The Hours about "the moment of happiness" as distinct from the "beginning of happiness" and how those two things got confused.

Aside from that, be happy that this entry is so succinctly funny. It's almost haiku in its linguistic simplicity! Well done, you got me to laugh on this dismal day of AIG news.

I will be happy when I finally finish a sweater
(ducking)

Hey, I haven't even started a sweater.

I see your pictures of Takoma Park & Washington DC. I was raised in NW Washington. Are you from there?
