silk garden mitts
Autumn must be here. I've been getting a lot of hits on my fingerless mitt pattern.
The originals were knit with Noro Kureyon. Last weekend, I whipped up a pair of the garter-edged version out of a skein of Noro Silk Garden.
I don't find Kureyon particularly scratchy (espcially after washing); however, if you'd like to start out with a softer yarn (except for occasional, random plant matter), Silk Garden is a good yarn sub for these.
[Sorry about the slightly inaccurate photo. The mitt on the bottom was supposed to show the palm shaping. Instead, it shows the back of the hand and the mitt rotated so the thumb is showing. This picture was taken last weekend, which is likely to be the last sun we see for the next five months, so I doubt I'll ever fix it].

It's like you've read my mind! I may just try this. I have one skein of Silk Garden in this same colorway. I rolled it into a ball and thought it was incredibly scratchy (what, they couldn't wind in some glass shards along with the chaff? LOL), so I can only imagine what the Kureyon is like. I have seen remarks about Silk Garden on a couple of forums that say it gets softer with washing...which it would HAVE to if you were ever to make a sweater out of it, which is where I even learned of this yarn in the first place.
This could be a good travel project for my trip at the end of the month....

um .... those extra hits may be my fault as I added your pattern to ravelry many moons ago when I got my invite .... hope you don't mind.
And you know I still haven't got round to making them. The yarn is just looking at me!

I am not a Noro fan, but those are gorgeous. When the page was loading, I thought they were flowers!

The mitts are lovely. I'm especially fond of that colorway. Glad to hear from you again.

That plant matter? That's the 'garden' bit.
