linty pattern now available
Remember my linty oatmeal sweater (more formally known as the Tweedy Aran Cardigan)? I occasionally get asked where one can find a copy of the pattern. Well, Interweave now offers the individual pattern for sale.

the long haul
My knitting is terribly repetitive lately.
This is the Lead or Follow Lace Scarf by Jackie E-S at HeartStrings FiberArts. I bought the pattern from Ellen at Pocket Meadow Farm when I visited her last spring.

The yarn is some lace weight merino given to me by the delightful BigAlice. We kettle dyed it together back in October. Actually, she dyed and I stood around wearing a mask and goggles, trying to stay out of her way.
The skein is about 1300 yds. but I'm not sure how much of it I'll use. I widened the scarf by two repeats and I want the length to be extra long, so at 15 pattern repeats I think I'm about halfway there.
It just goes on and on.

good riddance 2007
2007 was not my best year. True, some very good things happened this year, but in the end, they couldn't balance out against the worst of it. By December, I had enough--I sleep-walked through the whole month. I let the fifth anniversary of the blog go by unrecognized because it was also my mother's birthday. I spent the month dreading Christmas because it would be my first without her. Actually, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, we all made it through OK.
She's been gone six months now, and it's time I really get back to work and get on with my life. I can't let her death stop me from living.
I'm not sure that getting on with life will lead to more frequent blogging. Thanks to everyone who stops by despite my long absences and lame posts.
Let's all have a good 2008.
