vines in a tree
Here is another version of Japanese Vines hanging on the huge laurel tree in the back yard. This scarf was knit from two skeins of ShibuiKnits sock yarn that I got at Knit/Purl.
Other yarns that would work well with this pattern are Koigu KPM solids, Louet Gems fingering weight, or Sundara sock yarn. Just to clarify, a single skein of Cherry Tree Hill Supersock is 420 yds., so depending on what yarn you use, this may or may not be a single skein project.
Now, back to this laurel tree, which is the menace of the back yard. It is MASSIVE. If I do nothing, it will be the back yard. I knew I was going to have to do something about it when I moved in, I just didn't know how soon. I found out when it went and dropped a large branch in the neighbor's back yard (and, thankfully, not on the neighbor's house or anything of value). That forced my hand. It's got to be pruned, and pruned hard. Unfortunately, the pruning will have to be done by hand from inside tree. Nothing is ever easy.

I planted a couple of English Laurel in my backyard as a bit of a privacy screen. I knew they would get very large but I had no idea they would turn into trees that could drop branches. Hopefully, down here in southern Oregon they won't get quite so monstrous.
I ordered your Japanese Vine pattern. It is so lovely and graceful. I think it will make a nice gift.

What will you hang your lovely scarves on if you prune it? It looks perfect in the tree!

Hi, I just got your pattern for this scarf and I'm trying my hand at it. I'm having a problem. My scarf is 47 stitches but I'm not able to repeat the pattern two and a half times. Also the even rows it says to p7, k1 two times .. that doesn't seem correct .. but when I p7, k1 to the end there is a left over stitch, not including the three at the beginning and end of the rows. Every row actually has an extra stitch. May I ask for some help?
