blogging backlog
Wow, where to start? I am really rusty at this. First, I had a little knitting slump, and then once the knitting was going again, the blogging wasn't. Well, I think I might temporarily be back in the blogging sweet spot for a couple of weeks until the moving, and the inevitable confusion and gap in internet service. [There is no DSL service at the new house, so it looks like cable internet or dial-up. Hmm, which shall I choose?]
So, knitting, that's the subject. Many potential topics. I'll just have to pick one and jump in.

FlockSock yarn from VanCalCar Acres Sheep Farm in Amethyst purchased from the Woolgirl herself.
Have you heard of Woolgirl? Jen is a friend and former workplace knitting pal following her dream to open an online yarnshop that specializes in hand-dyed yarns. Check out her fantastic selection--so many beautiful and unique yarns all in one place.
Go Jen!!
[Ahem, back to our regularly-scheduled programming].
Although the yarn is called FlockSock, I am currently on a lace kick. So, my skein turned into a Swallowtail Shawl from the Fall 2006 Interweave Knits.
I have become obsessed by this pattern. I'm working on my third iteration and considering my fourth.
Must be the nupps.
[Well, that was pretty disjointed, but I've gotten my feet wet. Hopefully, it will get easier again as I go along].

it's gorgeous! Did you make it smaller than the pattern?

yay - knitting!! The shawl is beautiful Michelle, as is the yarn. Jen provides a wonderful service at Woolgirl and it is always cool to support people following their dreams. I have been thinking about a lace project for some time now and I have this pattern - how difficult do you consider it to be?

Welcome back! Know what you mean about "Swallowtail"-- I'm working on my second (in cashmere!) at the same time as "Linty". Talk about contrast. Linty's sleeves and half the back are done. I'm armed with hand cream and still game!

The Swallotail shawl is gorgeous. Can you tell me where you purchased the Flocksock yarn? I did a google and found a couple of places.

Isn't sock yarn the most amazing thing. You can knit everything with it, and it does not even count as stash! I love your shawl. The colors are glorious, and the drape amazing.

Fabulous Swallowtail! :-) I know what you mean about the pattern... I have some ideas about altering it: using thicker yarn to get a more rustic-looking, bigger shawl, or substituting plain stockinette for the bead lace (which I think would make the border really stand out.)

That shawl's very beautiful. I've been eyeing that pattern for a long time but have yet to try it. Mmmmm, nupps.

The shawl is GORGEOUS! I'm very into lace these days too.
Congratulations on the done and done! I hope the move goes well for you.

Oh, that's beautiful. And I've been eyeing that FlockSock. Must try some. But not until my grad student stipend returns to its regularly scheduled programming this fall.
