what I did on my sock vacation

October has been a lean month, posting-wise. I won't blame it on the absence of socks. It's not because I haven't been knitting either. Rather, I fell into a hole. It wasn't a very deep hole, but once I got in it, I sat down a wallowed a bit.

I may or may not be out of the hole now. I suspect that what's happened is that I've stood up and can now see over the edge. I think some actual climbing will be involved before I am completely out.

But, before I stretch the metaphor to ridiculous lengths, let's speak of the knitting I've been doing and not blogging about.

Sometime early this year, I started this lap blanket from Lopi book 24. [You can see the picture from the pattern book here]. I knit great guns on it for the first two thirds; and then, as usually happens, I ran out of gas and put it away. The reasons for this remain unclear. I'm pretty sure that it wasn't due to the 3.2 million ends that had to be woven in. Seriously. That kind of thing doesn't bother me. More likely, it was my trip to Arizona. Traveling disrupts everything.

No matter. It's done now and all the ends are more-or-less neatly tucked away.

Our friendly neighborhood boulder does model duty once again. You can click on the front view to get a pop-up of the back. [I tried to figure out how to do a fancy mouseover that would flip between the front and back, but couldn't].

There's little surprise that I would choose this project to knit. Afterall, I have a history with the pattern. I love the trompe l'oeil that gives the effect of interlocking ribbons of color.

The Lopi was nice to work with. It's a bit rough, but it makes a good, warm blanket, knits up quickly and evenly, and hides the ends almost perfectly.

See what swearing off socks will get ya?

molly and me

When we are good, we are very, very good.

And when we are bad, we are horrid.

[ETA: I got these in the hospital gift shop].

It may be telling that I find this hilarious.

the stole that never ends

This is the stole that never ends
Yes, it goes on and on, my friends
Some knitter started knitting it not knowing what it was,
And she'll continue knitting it forever just because...

still sockless

You are wondering if my sock knitting diet has driven me insane. Am I not posting because they have carted me off to the loony bin?

No. I will admit to a few twinges; but nothing that couldn't be overcome. Mostly, I am just overwhelmed with work and life.

And, when I'm not overwhelmed, I am knitting; just, not socks.

Here are some peeks of what I did over the weekend.

Hail, Columbus! I have today off.
